I have a daughter, our second child, who has colic. Tonight as she was crying/screaming for the third hour, my husband said to me "you must be doing something wrong".
She also has GERD and is on Zantac. I'm BF exclusively and have eliminated dairy from my diet, today is day 5 of no dairy. I have not seem an improvement so far, I know it takes 2 weeks to get out of your system.
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I hold her, she screams. I swaddle, she screams. I put her down, she screams. I walk, she cries more. I sit, stand, shush, hush, run the vac, go outside, snuggle on my shoulder, cradle carry, offer the breast to feed, give her Colic Calm, try the swing, the chair, the recliner...nothing helps!
After the 3 hour mark, like magic, she stops shortly after. Tonight it was 6:50-10:15 PM.
She was overtired, I know. She is a poor sleeper/napper and only slept after she ate at her 5:45 pm feed for about 10-15 minutes. During the day she will fall asleep on my chest upright after eating to help her GERD. We have a 3 year old and it's almost like she does not want to miss anything. I put her down in a quiet place to sleep, but she dosent. I'm at my wits end. She is 6 weeks today and it's been like this for 2 weeks now. She was 3 weeks early and spent 2 weeks on the NICU with breathing problems. It started almost as soon as she came home. Can anyone offer advice on how to help her? Am I doing something wrong?

You are doing great. You are not doing anything wrong. I know it is exhausting but keep on going. You can do it. When our son was colicky I took a dry erase marker and wrote on my bathroom mirror "I can do hard things. Just keep going." It is still on there because we are still dealing with sleep issues so there still is crying but it is significantly less than when he was colicky. Keep trying different things. You've got nothing to lose.

I don't think it has anything to do with what you are doing, just keep going. My son is 16 weeks old now and once he cried for seven hours straight. Make sure you burp your lo about twice during each feed, and hold him upright for 20 mins after feeding. I did these and sometimes it helped, sometimes nothing helped. I discovered that when I take dill seed tea during the day my love is calmer. I breastfeed. And a little colic tummy massage helped too. You are not alone and you are not doing anything wrong.

You can also get probiotics, bio Gaia seems to be popular for colic and reflux, I never used it because by the time it was suggested, my son was much better. You can also try wearing your daughter. I bought a beco Gemini baby carrier and God bless the one who invented carriers, whenever I put my son in it and walk around two minutes he falls asleep. It's good because he isn't crying bit bad because you can't sleep too. But better than the screaming. That screaming is nerve rocking, especially when you are sleep deprived.

Did any one else try BioGaia? My doctor really wanted me to try it but after one day it made my LO's stomach even more painful so I had to stop.

This all sounds quite familiar! Thank you for sharing, I currently have a 6 week old, with colic, and 2 year old. You're not doing anything wrong, just keep loving on her. And don't forget, it will pass soon enough!

I did everything like you, the list was good! You tried most of it. Blowdryer and wearing I am sure you tried as well. I will say the probiotics made a little bit of a difference. I breastfed and I would put FloraBaby brand of probiotic which is a powdered form, mixed in with a bottle of breast milk at night. Also I would drink a lot of dill and fennel tea and even gave some fennel tea to my daughter and it seemed to relieve her gas. She too had minor reflux and luckily outgrew it by 6 months.

Ive done all the same. My LO usually cries from 5pm to 10 pm but now she has started crying ALL day if she isnt sleeping or eating..and she will only sleep about 30 mins a day which I know she is overtired at night time. I dont know what else to do I am in tears everyday I am starting to think its something I am feeding her from me. Back to the Doc we go tomorrow.
