Hi everyone. I am in need of some help here. My LO was recently seen at the Dr. for acid reflux. Turns out I am thinking this is more colic than anything. The past week she has just gotten worse and worse. She is on medicine for acid relfux but she now cries almost the entire day unless she is eating and sleeping. She will only sleep about thirty mins total during the day. She is very uncomfortable. She is breastfed. I switched to just pumping and I feed her with a Dr. Brown bottle now because my let down was way too fast causing her to choke and get terrible gas. Has anyone had a baby with colic and had to change from breast milk to formula? I am bringing her back to the Dr. tomorrow I just dont know what else to do. Ive tried everything from white noise to walking, bouncing, car rides, warm baths, swing. the only time she doesnt cry is when she is eating or sleeping. I feel terrible and helpless!

This sounds like my daughter. I ended up switching to alimentum for a presumed milk protein intolerance. I ended up going to GI and ENT for noisy breathing. My daughter ended up having severe acid reflux and left vocal cord paralysis. We started zantac, Prilosec, neocate & thickening her feeds. I'm only a week in with all the meds and she no longer is choking with feeds or screaming all day. We definitely still have the colic episodes at night but they only last 15-20 minutes instead of hours. Her napping during the day still isn't great. She catnaps and occasionally she will take a 2 hour nap.

Wow, you could be describing my son, Lindsay. I feel like I am in hell. We have tried Zantac, and now we're on to Prilosec. Also using Probiotic Drops, Gas Drops and Gripe Water, intermittently. I gave him Tylenol this morning, after convincing myself he had a headache...but really just hoping it would put him to sleep for a few hours. No such luck. 20-minute nap and reprieve from the crying, screaming and writhing in pain. I wish there were something I could give him for his stomach/digestive pain, that would work immediately. Like Tums or Pepto. This is complete misery! I go back to work in five weeks, and I don't feel like I have enjoyed a single day of my leave with him. (I'm off a total of 12 weeks.)
I'm so sorry I have no answers for you, but loads of commiseration. Hang in there!!
