Here I am again, sharing my review of colic calm. I am very pleased with their fast shipping, I received my order yesterday and just a while ago I gave the first dose of colic calm to my Eddyson. I used even less than a quarter of a tsp and although it was quite messy, I'd have to say that it did what it claimed to do. In just a couple minutes my son stopped crying. And now he's sleeping peacefully. The colic calm seems to just make him sleepy, and now I'm wondering if once he wakes up we'll be going through another episode of fussiness again or is his gas problem really gone...I hope I don't have to use this product very often, and if all it does is make him go to sleep, I'll have to say its not worth my money.

Our pediatrician has recommended "brewed-and-cooled to room temperature" Chammomile tea (the more organic & natural, the better!), and it does help a little at times. So I'm wondering if the Colic Calm blend, which includes chammomile, will help all the more. I'm going to check with my pediatrician to make sure she is ok with it. I'll post back if we try the product.

We used chammomile tea with lots of success when our son had colic, too. Let us know what your results are.

My baby is on his second day of colic calm, and second week of zantac. Coincidentally though, I notice that he is starting to gag more and look like he is choking, in between feedings when I started the colic calm. The zantac, I don't think, does diddly squat.
Really, the only thing that's helped when he screams from the colic is sitting him on my lap, facing me - using my thighs as his back support --- and I take his feet and do a bicycle motion towards his tummy (I don't lay him down when I do this as he also has acid reflux, which would just push his food back up to his throat). This is more "hands on" and requires you to drop whatever you are doing, but I just think of it as more bonding time. I even get smiles out of it. =)
He is breastfed, and I know this sound weird, but I usually latch him on, and then recline myself to where he is practically on his tummy. I find he swallows less air this way, and thus makes him less colicky.
A diaper change helps too, when he is screaming a lot ... I guess lifting his legs up to change the diaper and wiping his buttocks, somehow helps move things along.
Also, during the day when he is napping, I lay him down on his tummy with his legs curled under him, and check him often to make sure he is breathing. I know this is against the SIDS campaign, but I decided to give it a try anyway, because that is how my mom used to put us down. I just make sure that the surface is firm, and it is angled upward from waist up, so it lessens the possibility of choking. I also make sure his head is facing either left or right, and not directly under.
At night, I use a wedge pillow so I can lay him on his back. Te pillow I got is quite pricey and needs some kinks worked out, but it is worth the relief he gets, and the peace of mind, knowing he won't choke on hs vomit, if he ever decides to do it in the middle of the night while we are all sleeping.
Well, good luck to you all. I will be back to update and see if the colic calm is beneficial to him, or it is what's causing him to gag.
So far those still work better than any meds he tried ...

Hello, we bought Colic Calm in a desperate need to do everything and almost anything to calm the squealing cries. You feel helpless and you blame yourself for his condition. He is now 6 weeks old and to see him move like a snake in pain is very frustrating as a parent. You feel helpless! I tried and occasionally use Chamomile and Peppermint tea which seemed to work but not totally ... it seems! In a desperate attempt to remedy his crying we expedited the Colic Calm to Canada with a whopping cost of $100.00 for 2 bottles of product and the other half was shipping but it got here in one day. The thought was if it works then the money was well spent ... 2 weeks later, I am not sure ... because it seems to not be working for baby and us! Initially, we thought perhaps it worked but then we noticed he was moving in pain more drastically and crying after feeds when we gave Colic Calm and we also found he vomited. We cut the dose down because we thought maybe it was too strong for him and the same thing happened and as a matter of fact at times the Colic Calm did not seem digested at all because it came back up within minutes of the dose. It is so frustrating and difficult to see your new baby experience such ADULT -like pain and squirm in pain like he does. I wish I could use a magic wand and stop this because it is too hard to see him experience such pain. I just want to cry. I even blamed my diet and then I ate more and ate better (so to speak) but it didn't work either. Any ideas?

I'm sorry you and your little one are experiencing such pain and frustration, frustratedmom. I wish I could tell you there is a magic bullet for colic, but at this time, there just isn't.
I'm not sure if you've browsed through the rest of our site, but if you do, you'll find lots of practical, common sense suggestions for how to help relieve some of the pain and anxiety colic causes. Unfortunately, at this moment, there are no cures, aside from time. But there are several things you can do to reduce the frequency and severity of your little one's crying, and you'll find them among the threads here on our bulletin board.
In the meantime, welcome to our site, and we hope you'll stay for as long as you need. Please register, so we can message you individually, if you need it, too. Keep venting, keep browsing, and eventually, colic will be nothing but a bad memory for you and your baby.

Hi, I've used "Colic-ease" which is a gripe water that has chamomile in it. I couldn't really tell you that it necessarily helps, but I feel like I'm doing SOMETHING at least! My baby is also on Zantac in the a.m. and Prevacid in the p.m. for severe reflux.
Can someone explain the chamomile tea thing in more detail - do I brew it like I would brew it for me? I shouldn't put any sugar in it right? Do I put it in a bottle? I think it's worth a shot if someone can tell me more...

Yes, eviesmommy, you brew it exactly as you would brew it for yourself. I didn't add sugar, but you may add a little, if you desire. No honey, though, until the baby's over a year old. Let the tea cool to room temperature, then put it in a bottle. It is a natural tummy relaxant and sleep inducer. As with *any* substance, you should ensure your child has no allergies to the substance before use, and please, check with your pediatrician first, to be safe. There are those who unfortunately think that just because something is "natural," it's inherently safe. But we have to remember that arsenic is "natural," too, so take precautions and use common sense any time you're trying a new remedy with your baby.
A few moms here also melted one or two peppermint hard candies in the tea as it was cooling. Oil of peppermint is a natural stomach relaxant, as well, and helps relieve heartburn and gas. Of course, if you add the peppermint, don't add sugar.
Let us know how it works, k?
*big hugs* Rebecca

WE tried colic calm too and it did settle our daughter immediately. The only problem was that after using 2 or 3 times a day for 2 days she got badly constipated and was so unhappy. I waited till she got over that and then tried again. Every time I used it she got constipated so we've stopped all together. I've taken to trying the chamomile tea and that seems to be helping some..........

Eviesmommy, I usually just brewed one teacup full at a time, just like if I were going to drink it myself. That's what, about four ounces? Hope it helps, hon.
*big hugs* Rebecca
P.S. --- Oliviasmom, I'm so glad to hear that the chamomile is helping your dear one, too. That's great!

Has anyone experienced ammonia smelling urine while using colic calm? I thought my 4 mo. old had a UTI, but she didn't. I didn't use the colic calm for 2 days and it went away.
Otherwise, the product seems to work for her gas and reflux. She loves the taste. She does have super messy, tar-like poos though.
