Is it really colic if my 1 month old son can be passified regularly? He does not cry 8hrs a day every day but there are definitely times where he is fed, changed has gone poop and nothing seems wrong with him and he can cry for hours at a time.
But very rarely can he not be passified maybe a couple of times a week. Also every once in awhile he will have good days where for 8 hrs or so he won't fuss at all and only cry a bit when hungry.
My wife stays home with our son and more often than not he is at least fussy.
I would say he has colic but not to the degree that alot of children depicted here have. Is it an all or nothing thing with colic or are there degree's of colic?
He does not spit up at all but does have issue going poop and he is on a prescription stool softner which helps him go more but hasn't really helped with fussiness.
My only concern is if it is not colic and something more serious is going on. He has gron and gained alot of weight since birth 3 inches and 3 lbs the first month he has been checked out several times by the doctor to be healthy he is strong and could hold his head up by himself after his second week.
My wife is very tired though and it's frustrating cause without his bouts of extreme crying and fussiness he is such a joy.

Colic is definitely *not* an all or nothing proposition. All children are different, and they will all manifest *any* condition in slightly different ways.
I would definitely not wait to have him checked out by your trusted pediatrician. Even if that does nothing but provide you with peace of mind, so be it. It was worth the trip.
Keep surfing our site here. We've got a lot of good advice posted, and hopefully, something will click for you and your family. In the meantime, welcome (though we wish it were under better circumstances).

I know this is an old post but just incase someone is reading and needs advice I'll share my story. My daughter was the same way only had a couple bad screaming episodes but was consistently fussy and was physically strong. The doctor was zero help and just diagnosed her with colic. ( over the phone) Two things dramatically helped 1. Switching to soy formula. I was breast feeding and not eating much dairy at all but the switch did wonders. 2. Seeing a pediatric chrioprator. She had two spots in her neck that were stiff and could be pinching a nerve. (And why she could hold her head up so well) I was very nervous to take her but the doctor was amazing and after two weeks and a couple visits we saw a huge change in her behavior.
