My 7 week daughter has been showing signs of colic for a few weeks. I had to stop breastfeeding because she has a dairy/soy allergy and put her on Nutramigen. It was a miracle cure for about a week, but she's been regressing and now seems worse than ever. She just looks like she's in so much pain when she screams...and she typically goes insane before farting or pooping. Anyway I'm at wits end and am taking her to the pediatric gastroenterologist tomorrow. Has anyone taken their LO to a gastroenterologist? Did they help? I seriously can't think about dealing with this for months so I am really banking on this doctor having an answer for us :/

I tried to get a referral as my pediatrician didn't seem to believe there was anything wrong until my daughter projectile vomited all over her. So we got her tested for GERD and she did have a mild case that Zantac seemed to help a bit at first but as my understanding is zantac is like a temporary solution. Anywho she grew out of reflux by 6 months. While the zantac did help, she continued to be a colic baby with a dramatic improvement around 2 months but not seeming to fully go away until 4 months. I say 4 months, because I too did a count down to 3 months and at the 3 month mark was disappointed when nothing changed. Not good to look at it as a count down. Because their stomaches are so sensitive I do believe that probiotics helped the most out of anything I tried, of course at the end of the day you can't change their personality or demeanor which is at least partly why they are the way they are. Sorry you are going through it, hope it goes by fast for you!
