Hey, Malachi's mom. Welcome to the forum. You'll find a great group of colic parents here, and if you go to the "Colic Support" section and read old posts, you'll find that you are not alone, not by a long shot. There are lots of practical suggestions for getting through this tough time, and I'm sure there's something that will make it easier for you and your dear one. In the meantime, thanks for joining us, and we're happy to see you here, though we wish it were under better circumstances.
*big hugs* Rebecca

I have been using colic calm on my 7 week old - found it on an online search. My LO also suffers from reflux and we feel that colic calm is the only thing that helps - not a cure all - but helps more than anything else! I started with 2 bottles (PRICEY)!!! And just ordered 5 more!!!!!

Please help, my 8 week old daughter has just started getting up every half hour during the nite. She was sleeping until 4:30 but would have 3 or 4 days a week getting up at 3. It is now 5 nites in row she has been getting up. She is an awful burper so my doc said to use Mylicon but it doesn't seem to help. She gets terrible gas bubbles and cries during the day. She also has reflux and is on baby Zantak. I hate that she is on so much for being so little. I asked my doc yesterday about gribewater but she didn't like it. She was up again last nite so I put her in a swing which worked for 4 hours. I did just order Calic Calm and am looking forward to using it. My question is I just started using birth control the nite she started this episode of getting up. Could that be it? I am sooo tired and desperate. It is so sad!!! HELP

As a midwife, I see a number of babies with reflux. Colic Calm has helped a great deal with the majority of them.
Someone mentioned dye....the black comes from the 'charcoal '(vegetable carbon).

I think different babies probably have different reactions to Colic Calm. It worked for our baby, and may work for yours as well. Yes, it is messy. It does contain vegetable carbon which is black. But if it gives your baby any relief, the mess is worth it.
I saw the earlier post about the chamomile tea with peppermint. If I am not mistaken, Colic Calm contains both those ingredients as well. I know when I have a belly ache, peppermint makes me feel better!

Colic calmed seemed to work immediately the first time I used it. I was startled when I first opened it because it's black and it looks crazy in the babies mouth when you give it. The second time it didn't help at all and later she spit a bunch of it back up and it was still black and got all over the place. As far as it staining, I rinsed it out with cold water right away and sprayed dreft stain remover and it all came right out. I would recommend to at least try it, it won't hurt your baby.

Beware of the Colic Calm postings. like the one from hugsfromtrina. These are affiliate links and Colic Calm PAYS these people to make postings, run blogs and websites, and indirectly recommend their product. See noLinks://www.coliccalm.com/affiliates/index.html . This does not mean that the product is not helpful or that these people did not have good experiences with it, but as a consumer relying on their advice and recommendations, be skeptical. Hi everyone -- this is the email I sent to "Liz" who apparently has unbiased reviews of colic calm: Hi Liz Unfortunately I have something negative to say about colic calm... I ordered it when my baby was 2 weeks old, now he is 3 months and I still haven't received it (and of course no longer need it). I have let the company know by phone and email that I haven't received it. The person I spoke to on the phone told me that they would reimburse me if it still hadn't arrived in a week or two (this was over a month ago). When I emailed her to let her know it hadn't arrived, she denied ever saying she would reimburse me, and told me she would forward my concerns to her manager. I haven't heard from them since. So buyer beware regarding colic calm, is my motto, and I'll tell that to anyone who will listen. Thank you for putting up this website so I can let others know. Melanie This email bounced back after I sent it. Liz, who wants all reviews of colic calm, negative and positive, apparently isn't there. After researching further on the internet, I realized this was likely the case, that colic calm pays these people to do these reviews. It may very well work for some, however, I have not received it and am getting no refund. Anyone know where I can post this review so it's seen by more people? I don't want anyone else to get ripped off like I did. Thank you Melanie

We did not have success with this product for our daughter's GERD. She is now 5 months old and still suffering from 'silent' reflux - she has stopped spitting up as much as she had been around 2 months, but you can hear it come up and she swallows it. If her 'throat' is sore, she refuses to nurse because it is painful, so she is not gaining weight as she should be. Colic Calm did not seem to help our baby and it was very difficult to get her to take it without spitting it everywhere making a mess. I was disappointed to discover the amount of charcoal in it. Aside fromthe staining and difficulty in getting her to take it, my concern was that the charcoal could interfere with nutrient absorption.
The only thing that helps her is keeping her elevated all the time (we just got a Tucker Sling from Pollywog Baby), and if I avoid certain foods (eggs, dairy, nuts, and I'm trying to eliminate gluten). My other children have food allergies, and I know they had GERD, but it wasn't diagnosed when they were infants (they are 7 and 9 now).

I ordered colic calm in a desperate attempt to help my son (8weeks today). We have tried almost every other gripe water on the market with little results, so I was hoping colic calm would be the magic bullet I kept hearing about.
Colic calm made my baby colicy for 9 hours straight! He NEVER EVER has been colicy for that long. (usually 1-3 hours 2 times a day) It was heartbreaking to watch. The only magic thing it did was instantly take his hiccups away, which was cool to see, but the hours on end of painful cries were not worth getting rid of hiccups. The blackness of the liquid is freaky, but I didn't care if it was going to work, and he liked the taste of it so I thought that it was okay. We have given this to him 3 times and every time he seems instantly calm for 10-15 min followed by hours of much worse colic. And yes they do pay people to write good reviews. In my shipping confirmation email there was an offer to pay me for writing good reviews. Because of this I feel colic calm is taking advantage of desperate parents everywhere by playing on their desire to find something, anything, to help their child. I do NOT endorse this product. Maybe it works for other people, but it did not work for me. You know what does work? An awesome support system of family and friends who I can ask to come comfort him for a bit while I take a shower. hahahaha. I'm hoping this will all be over soon.

Hi there--I write the Colic Calm blog (and used Colic Calm w/ my daughter) and recently posted a story about getting the black stains that the solution can leave. It's black because there are no dyes in Colic Calm. Vegetable carbon is used to relieve the gas (the gas "sticks" to the carbon as it passes through your baby) and it's natural form is black. You can check out the posting here:

Good luck!
