Hi Moms! I am in need of some help, I have no idea what to do anymore. My 6 week old has acid reflux and colic. We now have him on baby zantac for the reflux but his crying is still ALL day long, not just in the evenings. He is definitely having trouble pooping as well and can't seem to get it out, even though it's soft and not hard little balls. I guess I just need someone to tell me what else I can do! The vacuum seems to help but only for so long. I'm really starting to worry about the pooping though. We've had to "take his temp" quite a few times and I hate doing it because I feel like I'm hurting him more than helping. And in the past 24 hours taking his temp hasn't really done anything substantial. Has anyone else experienced this? What do I do? I feel like I'm just out of options and I'm going crazy!

Hi, first off my lo is 6 weeks old and I'm in the same boat as you. The only different is we have already been passed the reflux and constipation. It's pretty much a trail and error thing. Here are things that helped/is helping me.....taking him for a drive, taking him for a walk, infacol, walking him around the house in his carrier, swaddling him at bed time, cooled boiled water for the constipation, rubbing his belly in circular clockwise motions, moving his leg round together in a circular motion and warm baths with he is really on one! Saying that I do believe different things work differently for different baby's. There is also dentinox and gripe water. It is hard work but we will both get through it. Have you tried the anti colic bottles? They also helped me. Good luck 😀

I'm experiencing the same thing right now. I had to start apple juice twice dialy 1 ounce apple juice to 1 ounce water. It has helped. He has screaming fits for hours and is never really content unless eating or sleeping. It's really tough. We switched formula, bottles, started probitoics, did all the simple things and it may bring relief for a few days but it surely comes back. I also have felt like I'm going crazy. Reading and seeing that others have experienced this as well is the only thing moving me along. You are not alone !!! This will in turn in the end I believe will make us stronger more patient parents.

Hi Ladies,
Just want to give you a few words of hope. I did not even know what Colic was until my son was born - I knew he was different right off the bat. He never had any 'content' moments of happily looking around - if he wasn't eating or sleeping, he was crying. He cried so much that I dreaded being home alone with him because I'd have to listen to the crying and have no escape. Day after day, month after month, I searched for remedies - tried the swing, gripe water, switching between breastfeeding to formula and then back, controlling my diet, you name it, I tried it. I ofcourse feared the worst...I just have a miserable baby and he will forever be miserable...this is just my fate. Just when I was sinking in this cloud of despair, there came one day when he was around 4 months old that he didn't cry all day/evening - it was just bouts of crying. Next day, same thing. The week after, it reduced even more. Week after that, even more! I couldn't believe what was happening - there were times he would just lay on his playmat looking around and fidgeting with his toys...I was ecstatic because for the first time, he seemed happy and normal! Let me tell you, now he is 2.5 yrs old and he is the calmest, sweetest little boy. When other moms talk about how whiny or rambunctious their kids are, I can't even relate because my son is the opposite of that. I think he got all the crying over with, within the first 4 months of his life! Even now, every where we go, people comment on how sweet, calm and well behaved he is. This is just a few words of hope and encouragement for all the moms out there going through the thick of colic - it DOES get better, I promise! I never thought I'd see the day other moms tell me how lucky I am to have such a sweet, well adjusted boy...but we got through the colic and here we are now. I wouldn't wish colic on my worst enemy, but mamas - just know that it all works out at the end! Every day that passes, you are one day closer to getting your sweet, well adjusted happy child because colic WILL PASS!

Hello,
We have a colic baby 5 weeks old. She cries every evening at 6-8pm, the rest of the day she is fine. I can´t believe how much confusion there is about colic babies.
In our case it´s definitively not about diet (we´re lactose free), gas nor acid reflux. She cries a bit with gas and reflux but it´s nothing like the colic. Also the colic is a evening thing only, while the mild crying from gas occurs ocasionally throughtout the day, and of course with passing wind then.
I noticed the following:
- Baby is only relieved by white noise, like vacuum cleaner, but only while it is on. Sometimes colic returns 20min later. - What works best is going on serious movement (like going into the car or kangaroo-care outdoors) but this is highly impractical as it is snowy winter now!) If she falls asleep then, then its for the night! - Baby sometimes skips colic, if we switch off artificial light in evening. About a third of the days! - Funny enough, baby stops also colic temporarely when she is near the orange glow of a heat radiator.
I read scientific research, colic is nowadays proven to be a brain chemistry unbalance, and nothing to diet, gas or acid reflux, though those things also provoke excessive crying. Still we don´t know what to do to calm it down, other than the former solutions, which are not the most practical.
Any other insights?

Sleep regression, tummy related issues like gas, colic etc and day and night confusion make babies cry thru the night.
I am a mother of three kids and dealt with every child in their early childhood. With my second one, I found a great home remedy (although tried every possible remedy before). The name of that remedy was Babies magic tea, an organic herbal tea for infants tummy related issues.
My second and this third one were breastfed/ formula fed babies and I used to put one oz of this baby magic tea in 8oz formula splitting into two feeding sessions repeating twice (total 4 feeding) and amazingly it worked great and my babies started sleeping thru the night without fussing anymore."

have been seeing my whole family used to give "babies magic tea" to their new-borns as a colic remedy which was found really effective. I also gave this to my kids as well by the way I am the mom of 4 kids. it is exclusively herbal and has no side effects, might be helpful for you.
