I'm originally from the great state of Mississippi (yes, I wear shoes and have been known to read), and my husband is from Maine by way of Ohio. He's active duty Army, and we are currently stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC. It's likely we'll be PCSing to Ft. Gordon, GA, in the spring, then possibly Colorado after that. We'll see.

Tamara, as far as traveling, no not really. I have been to NM, OK, LA and Mexico (my vacation in October with Steven). We didn't have a lot of money growing up and my parents divorced when I was 12 (thank God) so my Mom did the best she could with what she had. Which was fine by us because at least we didn't have to live with my dad!! I have done more traveling as an adult than anything. My hubby and I plan on doing more, we both want to see a lot more places- both are curious about different cultures. He has been to a lot of middle eastern countries because of the military, but never for "pleasure". So he has been to more places than I have. This may sound "tacky", so please don't take it wrong, but I think you are a very WELL adjusted person for having been through all of that then. I know a few people that had been in foster care and are by no means the kind of person/mom you are. Kuddos to you for being a great person!! You rock!! Rebecca, I can tell from your posts that you are well read. Your vocabulary far exceeds most people from the "south" that I have met. hehehe... I can say that because I am a southern girl. How long has your husband been active Army? You said he was Navy medic prior right? Steven was in the "regular" Army before and then got out and then joined the Tx Army National Guard. He originally joined in 1991, out of high school. He is up in 2009 but he is going to re-enlist, just in time for their mission to Afghanistan. Fun for me, home alone with 5 kids. Anyone want to move in with me about that time???

LOL Thanks. Though I lived all my life until age 36 in Mississippi, I was constantly being asked by Mississippians "Where you from?" Chris joined the Army in the mid-90's, and as of tonight, he's only got seven more years before retirement. He returned from Iraq on September 13th, 2006 (Yep, Gavin's a "welcome home" baby LOL), and the unit he's with currently won't be combat-ready until 2009, then they're supposed to be going to Okinawa, but by then, we should be long gone, anyway. That sucks you'll be alone, but seriously, you are welcome to visit any time. As much as Gavin loves women, he'd be in hog heaven with you and five girls LOL!

Steven's unit was supposed to be deployed to Iraq this year, but they didn't want to split them up (again), so they are waiting until everyone is back and has been back for a while until they deploy them again. And like I said, it will be to Af. He said they will have to go to Co. to get ready because they will be in the mountains (cold) and have to get ready to be there. Yeah, Abby was a leaving for a month baby too. Not quite a welcome home baby, but a gonna miss you, not getting any baby!! LOL And a... oops, we're pregnant! We SERIOUSLY did not plan on having any more children... we thought we had enough, but I guess God had other plans! And that's okay, she my stinker. And don't tempt me... we may find you... LOL

Well, if having two colicky babies and living through that and NOT going crazy is a sign that you'll be a good mom, well then I think that you are on the right track.

I am replying late to this..but I am new here! I live in Los Angeles...I wish there was some sort of support group here for colicky babies..if I knew more people in L.A who were in this situation, we could start our own! We could all hang out with ear plugs in our ears!

NO KIDDING. I am so in need of COOL mommy friends. Not the pissy, stuck up..."my baby is perfect and never cries" kinda mommies!!! I call those ones "starbucks moms". I used to take Mya to the mall all the time, and they would be the moms that would gossip over how much money their husbands made, and drink their coffee...they all drove GIANT suburban's...and their kids were always little snotty brats that would hit the other kids, and play mean...but they'd never discipline them, because they were too busy talking about important things...(important things like: "Purchasing another new vacation home") I've even seen them let year old babies climbing the kid slides themselves, and falling down the slides, and their baby fell to the bottom screaming...without the mom skipping a beat, talking about how her husband and her just bought "new stocks"....arrrgh. PULL YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR A S S and TAKE CARE OF YOUR KID. PLAY WITH THEM EVEN!!! *gasp* I know that is just BEYOND them to actually get on the floor and PLAY with their kid. They looked at me like i was a basket case because i was climbing thru the tunnels and playing on the slides with Mya...all big and pregnant Oh well, they can go screw themselves. I dont want to make those kind of mommy friends anyways
