Levi has been sick for awhile now... He got over the bronchiolitis (and ear infection) and is now really stuffy and running a low grade fever off and on. He's been like this for almost a week--we're going to the doc tomorrow. Today he was wanting to sleep all day and wouldn't stop crying with his eyes closed when he was awake (like he was wanting to be asleep and was mad that he was awake). To me, this sounds more serious than a cold. What do ya'll think? Again, I'm going to the doc tomorrow, but I just wanted some opinions. I've been checking his temp about 2-3 times a day--sometimes he has a fever (up to 100.6) and other times it's normal. He was eating fine but starting today he has not been wanting to nurse or have a bottle. I've been doing the suctioning thing for his nose.

Don't be totally quick to call 100.6 a fever. I always always do that. And have done so with both girls. Thats a low grade...especially for babies. Babies can go REALLY high. Of course, you dont want them to...but ive noticed with both my girls, they'll get a low grade when they are fighting off a particularly yucky bug. that is just the way their body handles it i would be more worried about him not wanting to eat. of course with any fever it makes them uncomfy so its good to give them tylenol or whatever if they are really feelin bad just to make them more comfortable. i know its hard not to worry...and im glad youre going in tomorrow. Let us know how it goes

Thanks, Tamara. I know I read somewhere that 100.6 is almost not even considered a fever. Do you think a cold could cause him to want to sleep all day?

I think the low grade temp could cause him to want to sleep all day. If he has a yucky nose he could also have sinus pressure and feel crappy and that in general could make him want to sleep all day. I think it sounds like a cold but since his immunity is already down because of already being sick it may just have come on strong. Let us know what the doctor says but don't let them just dismiss it as a cold if you think it could be more, make them check. When Taylor was little they kept telling me that the glossy eyes and the puking mucus were all just part of the cold and for a week I took her to the doc everyday until one of them would quit blowing me off. Her o2 was at 17, my child could not breath, she had RSV and double pnemonia(sp). She was a little over a year, we ended up in the hospital for a week. So trust your self, if you think your baby has more than a cold make them check. I hope it is honestly just a cold and that he feels better soon.
