okay, I know it sounds crazy but Mallory is only 2 1/2 months old but i swear she has all the signs of teething. She is drooling like crazy, she loves to chew on my finger, she's started waking up crying at night for no apparent reason, she's being more clingy than normal, and today and yesterday she has been a poop machine (nasty loose poop). Has anyone experienced this so young? I really don't want to go back to the peds office just for him to tell me what i already think, plus we've been there every week for the last three weeks anyway. He probably thinks I'm crazy!
What, if anything, helped your baby's with it? She really doesn't seem interested in the teething rings that we have, and I'm afraid she's too little for orajel or something like that.

My oldest Daughter had two teeth at three months. Olivia starting teething early also, not that early though. I give them wet washclothes to suck and chew on. I also would take the bag popsycles and let them knaw on them. Through the plastic, I never open them. The cold seems to numb the pain fairly well. The other day for Olivia, I took one of her pacis that have an airhole on the back filled that with water and then froze it. Later that day my hubby gave it to her and he said she didn't mind it being a little harder and the cold felt good on the other two bottom teeth she is cutting.

Brookie started teething about then...and had two big ole teeth by about a week before she turned 4 months. Its totally possible. It may take a few weeks, to a month for them to actually pop thru, but its more than likely she is beginning the teething process. Brookie had those two bottom ones at 4 months, and started teething on the top ones...but it took her 3 months of drooling, biting, crying, sleepless nights....for the top two to break all the way in. We just used Hylands Teething tablets when she was really little....Brookie wouldnt handle anything cold. She HATED it, when she was that little. Nowdays she'll take cold things, but honestly, her chewing on my finger was what she preferred to do. Even after her bottom two broke thru... Man that kid left some bite marks on me, broke thru my skin once. youch! It just depends. Each child, each tooth is different. Have fun with the teething!! its a pain in the butt!!!!

David started having similar symptoms around that time but STILL doesn't have teeth yet at 5.5 months! Although...I think the middle of night screaming was related to colic or gas. He's started screaming again lately (after having slept great at night for the last couple months), so I really think the teeth might come soon now. My friend's baby had a tooth by 3 months, so it does happen. It might be a long process though...who knows. I use the Hyland's homeopathic teething tabs. I have friends who swear by them, so I figure it's worth a try. I'm not sure about how old they have to be for Orajel, if there is min age. I found that David likes to chew on teething toys and basically anything -- especially towels or blankets. You might give that a try. And keep the bibs handy, because otherwise you'll be changing soaked shirts several times a day!

She's also had a pretty big loss in her appitite, is that usually part of it?
Were do you guys get the hylands teething tabs? I work in a pharmacy and we can't order them from our wholesaler, so i have no clue where to get them at.

Garren too has had the same symptoms for months now and I keep thinking the teeth are coming but he's 5 months 3 weeks and still no teeth. He's been so horribly fussy though and I just keep thinking the teeth are fixing to pop through.....oh well who knows? ? Audrey

I got them at CVS, I think. Walmart also has them. I checked the orajel and it says for 4 months and up. I'd ask your ped about it. Yes, I've heard that babies may want to eat less. Or they'll want to nurse and refuse the bottle -- or vice versa...whatever feels better on their gums is what they'll want. Also, I would expect that some of the appetite loss may be due to feeling in pain. A few times David has gotten himself to sleep by chewing/suckling on our fingers.

Gavin began teething really early (around three months), then laid off for a while, and he's back at it again, with no teeth to show for any of it, yet. We used the teething pellets, too, and Children's Tylenol, but he wouldn't tolerate cold things to chew on, so we let him chew our fingers and wet (clean) washcloths. He's getting a hell of a bite, so I'm hoping those teeth come on before we have to amputate our knuckles.

We saw the ped and he says no way to teething, he thinks it was a virus. I think he is wrong, he got out of med school and took his boards a week after she was born so he is still convinced everything happens by the book. Besides, she has had a stomach bug befor and this was not the same.
He was generous with me, and gave me an RX for this horrible cough I've had for 2 weeks now. I guess that a perk to being a mommy young enough to be treated by a pediatrician!

I'm 21, I put my birth year in wrong on my profile by accident and am too lazy to fix it, so it says I'm 22.
