Hi all I'm a first time mum to a 10 week old girl. She's got colic, she's up every night without fail & cries usually from 12am till 6am nights are the worst even though she cries during the days. this morning she didnt settle till 8am & only by going for a drive in the car. Nothing can settle her. My husband & I take turns but it's beginning to take its toll. I've tried it all, swaddling very tight, patting till my arm gets numb! Shhhhing her, rocking, trying the dummy (she won't take it) bouncing on an exercise ball, singing to her! Everything! The only way she eventually falls asleep is in my arms or on my chest- I've tried putting her in her bed when she falls asleep but once her head hits the bed she screams & it happens all again. I'm finding it hard to leave the house because she screams & it's very stressful. Everyone is telling us there's light at the end but I dread nights so much were all so exhausted!

Lisa, yes it gets easier. But, with that being said its just different hard. We went through terrible colic with our son when he was 0 months to 5 months old nothing calmed him down we didn't sleep for 6 months straight, hes now 8 1/2 months old and generally at night he wont easily go to bed but once he does, he sleeps usually all night long. in that respect it gets better. but during the days now hes whiney and screams all day long because hes teething. Teething and growth spurts don't stop the whole first year, just when things get easier, something hard comes. I am sure after the first year or 2, things settle down im assuming. or hoping. But, the nights DO and will get easier for you as months pass. it took a while for us though, like a solid 6 months straight before anything at all changed. hope for you its sooner!
