This support group has been a huge help for me - our 5 week old (and us) have been suffering with the inconsolable screaming for the past few weeks. They've been the hardest of my life & I am now suffering from ppd... I'll be starting medication soon and likely having to stop Breastfeeding. Another disappointment in what I had hoped would be a magical 3 months but I keep focused on that light at the end if the tunnel - this CAN'T last forever.
Anyways, there is one thing that my husband and I have found that stops the crying. Literally 95% of the time stops her screaming and 75% of the time puts her to sleep. We put her in the newborn insert in the Ergo carrier and walk around (movement is huge - she can't be still in the beginning or it won't work) and then she stops crying in a few minutes and usually passes out. The tough part is that often when you stop moving, she'll wake up and fuss. Then when you try to put her down, she'll start screaming again (although half the time we can put her into her swing or the vibrating chair and she'll keep sleeping). When you put them down, leave them in the insert to cause minimal disturbance. This has been a huge help to us - even though we can't walk or sway forever, it at least can give us hours of quiet and her some apparent relief from whatever is going on... she is also on Zantac for acid reflux so it could be the upright position lessens the reflux.
I hope this helps some of you! I know how horrible it is to feel trapped day after day with a screaming child while your friends with calm babies are blissfully running around town. The Ergo has really helped with this as well since I can feel confident going outside for walks with her in the carrier and knowing she'll most likely remain quiet. I've even gone out to a couple casual restaurants. When she starts screaming in the stroller one of us puts her in the Ergo & that tides us over through the end of the meal.
Good luck moms - we'll make it!!
