Pam- we are down to giving him the albuterol treatments twice a day and I think we are going to go to once a day. We've been putting him in the bathroom sometimes with the hot shower running, too. He was on predinsolone (sp?) for 5 days which totally affected his sleep, but fortunately his cough is sooo much better. The doc didn't really specify how long we should do the treatments, so I'm not really sure. I am thinking about another week??

Rebecca, again, where do you come up with this stuff? I guess I will go with the old answer of "must be the military thing huh?" Department of Defense... Lordy...
Kari, I would keep with the tx's as long as he presents with the wheezing or difficulty breathing. Also, keep it around for future use. If he has had it now he may be prone to it in the future unfortunately. By chance, was he a preemie? Yes, the hot shower will help with the thinning of the mucous, but you want to make sure that after you do that to help with any kind of airway clearance if he sounds "junky", i.e., the cupping & clapping on the back. If no one has explained that to you the easiest way to explain it is to cup your hand like you would catch water in it, lay him face down in your lap and gently but firmly "cup & clap" his upper back to break up the mucous. (you should hear a sound kind of like you were "popping" him on the back) This may make him cough but that is okay, and anything that "breaks loose" he will probably swallow since babies don't know how to spit it up. Sorry, I know that is gross. I hope that helps.

Chariti, I hear ya on chaos. I'll take 3 kids ANY day over my 5... well I should say 6 because I need to count my hubby as one too! What are you in school for? I surely don't know how you do it. I only work VERY part time (thank you hubby), but I am very aware that raising 5 children is a fulltime job as it is. There is no amount of money in the world that could be paid to a full time SAHM. I never thought I would be one and here I am... crap, I've turned into a soccer mom... oh well, the bills are paid I can't complain. But you know the worst part of this whole gig I got going? Laundry. I hate laundry.

I did 8 loads just yesterday. Now that they came out with that super concentrated detergent I use less (thank God), but I still go through color safe bleach, fabric softener, and dryer sheets like crazy. I usually wash something every other day just because I can't stand to wash every day. Makes me crazy...

My name is Audrey....mom to Garren who was 5 months old on Monday. We too are over the colic, I think. Like these other babies he too is very demanding and "high maintenance". But, he has many more smiles and now giggles a lot and makes the funniest noises...overall a much more pleasant baby!
