I know there are a lot out there, but I am wondering what you found most helpful for your COLICKY baby, since I consider us to have special circumstances with our babies. When did you start using sleep methods??

We used the happiest baby on the block at first to help me cope, at about 2.5 mos when he was starting to do better we used an abridged version of that and the ferber method.

Happiest Baby on the Block was hard for us. My ped. recommended it. Its an awesome book, and the steps REALLY work....if you can do them perfectly. Its hard to get the jiggle and the shhhhh'ing and all that down perfectly, when you're dead tired and have a screaming baby on your hands. Its a great theory, but doesnt work for everyone. We werent able to get all the steps down perfectly.

"Healthy sleep habits, happy child" is my favorite, and there is a lot of information in it about colicky/extremely fussy babies, and how they differ from other babies when it comes to sleep. I followed a lot of the information in it starting at around 6 weeks, but we didn't do the sleep training (modified CIO) until after 4 months.

I never read any of the books, I just went off what worked for Abby... and by what you ladies said worked for ya'll! Honestly, I would have never had time to read a book on sleep when all I wanted to do was sleep myself. I just figured we'd get what we could and work on the rest later.

exactly. It may have worked had i not had another kid to worry about, and had i not been so sleep deprived. I couldnt even follow all the steps correctly. My brain was mush.... whatever i had to do to get my kid to sleep....i did.

haha..no kidding..I had that thought myself..how am I supposed to have time to read a book??? Today Ruby fell asleep in my arms, and I was so desperate for sleep, you should have seen the weird position I contorted myself into just to not have to move her!

Yah..thats a way of life. My neck is always screwed up sleeping in weird positions...or not having to get up to pee, because it will wake up one of the kids....so I hold it till my bladder almost bursts. Good thing I'm not pregnant anymore...I would have had to invest in some depends or something.
