I got the Graco one...it was $89.99. You know...you do the best you can, but EVERYTHING gets bad reviews depending on where you look. There are a few brands that always get 100% perfect safety ratings....but I don't know about everyone else...Sometimes thats not always an option. With a 3 year old...and a 8 month old, there are soooo many things you go thru and have to buy new its kinda hard on the finances. I'm still young, so we do the best we can, but we cant always afford the top notch, best brand out there...kinda stuff. I mean...you have to buy infant carriers, convertibles, boosters, high back boosters.....its never ending. We even bought two different models of convertibles when Mya was younger, since they got worn so quickly. Well, i suppose i could....if i didnt want to also feed my kids.

I guess I will have to look on the consumer reports and read up on them better. You know what's sad, I was never this paranoid with Masie, I just went with it and did what I needed to do. Maybe I was to stupid... not really, just ignorant on certain things. Now that I have 5 kids counting on me to be around and needing to be safe in the car, I freak out a little more... or it just could be my old age! But whatever, I'll have to look them up and see what the reports say, ya'll are way better mommies than I am!!

You know...EVERY carseat has to pass safety tests. They dont sell any that will just completely crumple in an accident. They have safety rules and regs. for that reason. yes, some are better than others....But Who's to say that something bad wont happen in one of those carseats anyways? Just like a super high safety rated cars. They still get in accidents, they still crumple. They only test under certain circumstances. You can't really predict WHAT kind of accident someone might get in. They may pass with flying colors under certain circumstances, but injuries STILL happen...no matter how safe something is. I'm just saying its great to spend lots of money on all the safety features in the world. No matter what though....there are still SO many things that are out of our hands, that no matter what we do we could never prepare for (god forbid something like that ever happens...). Thats all i was saying

I think you are right. I will probably just spend the $50 on the cosco one and be done with it. You can't predict what kind of accident you are going to be in and the injuries you will sustain so you never know what will happen. Hopefully I will never have to test the safety rating of a car seat though!

Besides....even with a $200 carseat.... I took our $70 one to the fire dept. when Brooklyn came home from the hospital....and they installed it for us. They told me 8 out of 10 parents put the carseats in wrong. No matter how much money you spend if you install the darn thing WRONG...your baby will be injured anyways. I think its 100% more important to install it correctly (both girls i take our carseats to the fire dept and have them do it. They have to take classes every year JUST for that) than to buy and expensive one that was "rated good"

You know, when I get Abby's convertible one I will go the the fire station that is around the corner from us... literally. go to the stop sign, turn the corner and there it is. hope if my house ever catches on fire they can get here quickly!

I know...in CA, thats where you go anyways. Or the highway patrol station. In fact...since our seats are slanted...the fire dept built a "Wedge" to go under the seat to raise it to the right degree, etc. I was thinking they'd be all high tech and use special inserts. NO...They cut up swimming pool noodles, and duck taped them together. lol They said after tons of studies done..the swimming pool noodle material..is very durable, and takes impact better than any other thing they've used. So anyways..when we had her infant seat in we had this funny small wedge made out of a green and pink "noodle" lol

LOL whatever works huh! at least they were cool enough to do that for you. I don't know what ours will do, they are a volunteer station so I will have to catch someone there, they aren't there all the time.
Or I could go to the police station and ask them... but I'm afraid they might look at me funny!

I had no shame. I showed up with my newborn...with her carseat in like....crooked. lol I was like "I know this darn thing isn't in right...I'm SO sorry" He's like..."This isn't that bad. I've seen much worse...where the baby was slanted forward almost falling out" I didn't realize how complicated it is to get it in perfectly....it took him a good 10-15 mins to get it SOO tight it wouldnt budge at all. and OMG...i didn't mind watching him put it in. He was TOTALLY hot. lol (psss. dont tell my husband) LOL
